‘Summer Snow’

Every summer we travel down to south Germany to visit family, to soak up the sun in my father’s tropical garden and plunge ourselves into the cold refreshing river. Every year the heat increases, the grass is browner, the trees already bare and the water less refreshing.

This year the sun was shy, and the heat didn’t come as expected. Instead, lots of rain, and even hail storms covering the streets with a foot of snow. Snowploughs working hard to clear the town in August, a month that usually has wasps buzzing around childrens melting ice creams. Then a week later summer decides to rear its head, but stays unpredictable like a grumpy toddler.
